Katie Hartman founded KHLA in 2019 to create a boutique experience for her clients and their projects; ranging from large scale developments, commercial centers, multi-family homes, and exclusive, single-family residences.

Katie’s venture into landscape architecture began at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s landscape architecture program where she graduated with distinction in 2011 before establishing her career in San Diego. She spent the first two years of her career at a design/build firm where she designed and brought to life residential landscapes. She then spent the next 6 years honing her design aesthetic and deepening her expertise focusing on commercial projects ranging from large multi-family luxury complexes to mall re-developments from California to Florida. Her roles have included project management, project design, construction documentation, illustrating plans, completing city submittals, and construction administration. Katie’s design specialty is the ability to create a sense of place and curated atmosphere through careful selection of materials and establishing themes to relate to the indoors.

She brings her passion for landscape architecture to every project with extreme attention to detail and efficient project management.
